Privacy policy

We Are Hiring ("we", "us") runs the job board at wearehiring.ca. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, who we share it with and your choices. We follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

1. What we collect

Account details: your name, email, password (stored encrypted), phone, city/province, and for employers the company name, website, logo and description.
Sign-in with Google, Facebook or LinkedIn: if you choose this, the provider sends us your name, email address and a user ID. We never receive your password for those services.
Resumes and applications: the resumes you create or upload (you can keep several), your answers to employer questions, cover notes, the interview or call-back times you choose, and the way you applied.
Employer tools: notes, ratings, tags and messages employers add to applications they receive, and a history of status changes.
Company reviews: the ratings and reviews you write. Reviews are shown without your name.
Payments: when an employer pays to feature a job, the payment is handled by Stripe or PayPal. We receive the amount, date, status and a transaction reference. We never see or store card numbers.
Usage data: pages visited, device, browser, IP address and cookies (see section 5).

2. How we use it

To run the site: accounts, job search, applications, resume search, alerts and company pages.
To send your application, resume and chosen interview time to the employer you apply to, and to tell you about changes to your applications.
To send job alerts and service emails you asked for. You can turn alerts off at any time.
To process featured-listing payments and send receipts.
To check reviews and job postings, prevent fraud, spam and abuse, and keep the site secure.
To show advertising that keeps the site free (section 5).

3. Who we share it with

Employers you apply to see your application and the resume you chose. If you allow it, they can also see your profile. When you apply by "contact the employer", "call me back", in-person booking or video call, the employer receives the contact details you entered.
Employers searching resumes can see only the resumes you mark as visible in My resumes.
Service providers that work for us: our web host, email delivery, Stripe and PayPal (payments), Google, Facebook and LinkedIn (only if you sign in with them), and OpenStreetMap (map tiles on job pages).
Advertising partners such as Google AdSense and affiliate networks (for example CJ Affiliate), as described in section 5.
Where required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

We do not sell your personal information.

4. Jobs from partner networks

Some listings come from partner job networks. When you click "Apply" on those, you continue on the partner's website and their privacy policy applies.

5. Cookies and advertising

We use cookies to keep you logged in, remember your choices and measure how the site is used. Third parties, including Google, use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners serve ads to you based on those visits. You can turn off personalised ads at adssettings.google.com or learn more at aboutads.info. Affiliate links may use cookies so the partner knows a visit came from us.

6. How long we keep it

We keep your account and resumes until you delete them or your account. Applications stay available to you and the employer until one of you deletes them. Imported jobs are removed after they expire. Payment records are kept as long as tax and accounting law requires.

7. Your choices and rights

View and correct your information in your dashboard and Account settings.
Hide or delete any resume, withdraw applications, and turn job alerts off.
Delete your account at any time from Account settings. This removes your profile, resumes and applications.

8. Security

We use HTTPS encryption, encrypted passwords and restricted access to uploaded resumes. No website can be 100% secure, so please use a strong password.

9. Children

The site is not meant for children under 16.

10. Changes

We may update this policy. We will change the date above and, for important changes, let registered users know.
